Yoga, Somatic Movement and Absorption

with Surya and Tias Little

November 21st, 2026

It's a field trip! We're hosting this event in the larger space of TaoSatva at 2 Upper Colonias Rd, El Prado, NM

There are three sessions. You can attend them individually or do a full immersion. Read on...

In this series of classes, we replenish the body by stretching the fascia and soaking the tissues. Through somatic movement, meditation and yoga postures we open the pathways of prana to drop into spaces of vast and clear awareness.

Yoga for Abdominal Health Saturday 9:30-11:30 AM
Many of the age-old yogic practices are devoted to maintaining the health and vitality of the abdominal organs. One of the techniques to optimize visceral motion is called nauli. In this movement, the abdomen is “swooshed” side to side and up and down. In this immersion we use unwinding movements, side bends and twists to prepare for abdominal kriyas or “turnings”. Working like an abdominal massage, nauli stimulates assimilation and facilitates absorption in the digestive system. In this immersion, we practice churning, massaging and stretching movements for the abdomen in order to increase digestive fire and boost overall levels of energy in the body.

Lungs: The Source of Prana Saturday 1-3 PM
The lungs are made of super pliable, elastic tissue. However, because they are so pliable, they are vulnerable to strain, blockage and congestion. In this class we use somatic techniques and asana to open the shoulder girdle and increase motility of the lungs. We slide, glide and pump the lung tissue to keep them elastic and responsive. Then we practice yoga postures to stretch and expand the lungs before pranayama.

The Yoga of Dissolution Saturday 4-6 PM
One of the traditional goals of yoga involves melting away mind and body so that one enters a vast and clear awareness that pervades every cell and every molecule of one’s being. This involves a kind of immersive experience in the fluids of the body. Like an absorbent sponge, we soak inward in order to experience laya yoga, the yoga of dissolution. In this class we practice somatic movements, meditation and yoga nidra to yoke to the one mind that underlies all experience.
