Johanna first discovered yoga in college in 1994 after having studied as a modern dancer for most of her childhood. Her love of movement, strength and flexibility translated easily into asana practice, but she quickly became enchanted with the meditative and spiritual aspects of yoga too. She credits yoga with healing many of her PTSD symptoms from childhood trauma.
In 2015, Johanna became certified through AuraFitness in Taos, NM to teach yoga (200RYT). She is also certified to teach yoga nidra (yogic sleep) and stand-up paddleboard yoga. Her teachings place emphasis on mindfulness, compassion and lower back care. As a certified Nature Therapy Guide, she looks to nature for lessons in healing and spirituality.
