Aura was raised in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. She has been an athlete all her life, trained in many sports. She was a Champion Collegiate High Jumper for the University of New Mexico. Helping others become fit and expand their own physical horizons was a natural progression from her own exercise background. Aura has been a certified yoga teacher since 2000. She is a senior vinyasa “flow” style teacher and uses choreography and music to create a seamless class. Aura teaches yoga in a way that feels accessible, welcoming and comfortable for a wide range of people. Her classes are infused with humor, reassurance and creativity. Aura's extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology helps ensure safe classes. She leads fitness, meditation and yoga retreats internationally and is an experienced group facilitator as well as designer of corporate wellness programs.
Aura has been certified as a Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise since 1999 and is a member of the International Sports Sciences Association. She believes fitness should be fun and functional, "We need to feel strong and comfortable in our bodies so that we feel capable and confident in our lives! Feeling good in our skin affects all other aspects of our being."
Aura holds specialty fitness certifications in Exercise Ball, Prenatal, Flexibility, Aging Populations and Parkinson's Disease. She is a Level 3 Certified Yogafit Instructor and has completed Level 3 Baptiste Power Yoga Teacher Training plus study in Ashtanga, Iyengar and Vinyasa styles. She is an E-RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance and also the Founder of the Aurafitness Registered Yoga School: Yoga Alliance RYS 200.
